KUALA LUMPUR (May 5): Techna-X Bhd (KL:TECHNAX) and Handal Energy Bhd (KL:HANDAL) face risk of trading suspension after failing to submit their latest annual audited financial statements within deadline.

Bursa Malaysia has given technology firm Techna-X and Handal Energy, which provides services to the oil-and-gas industry, until May 8 to submit their outstanding annual reports. If they fail to do so, trading in their shares will be suspended on May 11.

The exchange may take delisting procedures in addition to any enforcement actions against a listed issuer that fails to issue the outstanding financial statements within six months from the expiry of the relevant time frames, according to the similarly-worded notice for both companies.

Both Techna-X and Handal Energy missed the April 30 deadline to submit their audited financial statements, along with auditors’ and directors’ reports, for the financial period ended Dec 31, 2025.

Handal Energy had earlier said that the delay was due to additional time required to finalise its audited financial statements after the company changed its financial year from July 1, 2024 to Dec 31, 2025, resulting in an 18-month reporting period.

The firm will revert to a 12-month financial year ending Dec 31 going forward. Handal’s shares were last traded unchanged at 2.5 sen on Tuesday, giving it a market capitalisation of just RM9 million.

Techna-X’s recurring delays

Techna-X, meanwhile, has delayed the release of its annual report twice, and previously faced a similar issue for its financial year ended June 30, 2024.

At the time, the company blamed the delay on its external auditor HLB Ler Lum Chew PLT who needed additional time to complete the audit. Techna-X subsequently filed its annual report on Nov 7, 2024, the last day that the company was supposed to do so.

The audit firm later resigned on Sept 8, 2025. Techna-X clarified that the resignation was not due to any disagreement over audit fees or other matters, and appointed LTTH PLT as its new external auditor.

Techna-X then changed its financial year to Dec 31, 2025, resulting in an 18-month financial period.

On April 30, the company said it might be unable to submit its annual report on time, without providing a reason. Techna-X is scheduled to hold its 19th annual general meeting on June 24, where it plans to table its audited financial statements for the period ended Dec 31, 2025.

The company’s shares were last traded unchanged at two sen, valuing it at just RM5.5 million.
